Tickets still available for MRMC’s gala fund-raiser

The Marshall Regional Medical Center’s gala fund-raiser, “Texas Saturday Night at The Marshall,” will kick off a new era for downtown at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 30 when the first public function in the former hotel is scheduled.

The eight-story downtown landmark has been undergoing renovation in the public first floor, mezzanine and basement for about two years. That work is on the home stretch, according to developers.

Gayle Weinberg, director of the hospital’s foundation, said all proceeds from the event will go directly to the Marshall Regional Medical Center Cardiology Services.

“We have a limited number of tickets left,” she said. Tickets will not be sold at the door.

Tickets are $100 each and include gourmet Texas cuisine, dancing and live music provided by Diddley Squat, a live auction and party casino gaming with prizes. Valet parking will be provided and dress is “Texas casual,” Ms. Weinberg said.

“I passionately believe in the work of the foundation and the role we and this hospital play in the community,” she said. “Marshall Regional is a tremendous asset.”

She said attending the event will allow guests to both get a first-hand look at the refurbished public areas of The Marshall and support quality health care in the Marshall area.

“It’s going to be a fabulous evening for a great cause,” she said. “We have a great live auction kicking off about mid-evening with something that should appeal to about everyone.”

Going to the highest bidder will be a wild game dinner; a crystal compote with chocolate; a turquoise necklace; Brighton luggage; a chef-prepared meal at an area lake; gardening consultation services; a Los Cabos, Mexico, travel package including airfare, hotel and meals; a pampered day at a local spa; round-trip airfare on Southwest Airlines; a gourmet meal prepared by Dallas chef Todd Ericson; professional organization services; and a fishing adventure.

For those who want to try their hand at gaming, some chips will be provided and more will be for sale with proceeds going to the hospital. Those who have a good night can use their winnings for prizes like a trip to Las Vegas, a sports package, a cottage weekend at Caddo Lake or a Remington shotgun, Ms. Weinberg said.
